2018 – the year for GDPR and powerful consumers

As most of you should well be aware, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will be enforced from May 25th 2018. The GDPR follows the need to reform the current Data Protection Act, giving the consumer more control over how their personal data is used and processed by different companies. Any company that handles data will have to comply with the GDPR, whether they are based in the European Union or not. Failure to comply with the GDPR can lead to a fine of up to €20 million or 4% of annual turnover globally.…
